Matt is an experienced television director who’s credits include, ‘The Bill’, ‘Byker Grove’ and ‘Doctors’. We’re pleased to welcome him to our team here at InspirEd.
“I do teaching and guest lecturing, mainly to young adults…inspiring them, and giving practical hands on advice about how to get their first job in the industry, and what to expect when they get there”.
‘Matt Bloom’s get into media workshop’ is a fun and informative way to learn about how he made it into TV. The workshop starts with an informal talk about Matt’s experiences in the TV industry and why he thinks it’s important to follow our dreams and aspirations. A camera and lighting session follows as Matt demonstrates his skills with help from the students.
This is a unique opportunity for young people interested media to get first hand advice from someone who’s ‘been there and done that’. This workshop is perfect for students who have genuine aspirations to work in the industry.
“A while ago I was chosen to be mentored by Romeo+Juliet and Strictly ballroom director Baz Luhrmann. What a sport…driving up to Manchester to help make a short film starring Brenda Blethyn & Emma Bunton, that was shown before the Royal Premiere of Moulin Rouge, in Leicester Square. We spent a couple of days talking about film and with his guidance I made the slapstick comedy short, with Emma and Brenda kindly giving up their time for free and trekking to the North for the one-day shoot”.
Matt’s skills are critically acclaimed with some of his work making the finals of The Raindance Film Festival and in 2003 his film ‘On The Out’ won the Royal Television Society award for best drama. For a full list of his achievements please click here.
Matt is passionate about inspiring others and helping them to choose the right path when it comes to media.
