‘New Planet’ Recap

We’ve been working with Creative Partnerships and a selection of other talented Artists to deliver a revolutionary new project called “Operation New Planet”.

The project ran at Rodillian Secondary school in Leeds as part of the year 7 creative curriculum lessons. Collaborating with both Teachers and Artists we came up with the idea of ‘sending the children to a new planet to establish a new civilisation’. The pupils created characters for themselves, learn about diplomacy, religion and the economy… In other words, what makes a civilisation work??!!!

It was important to everyone involved that the children were completely engaged with the project from start to finish. We thought that one of the best ways to grab them was through film. We made the below video which was shown on the first day of term as part of the project launch.

The project ended with a performance from each of the eight classes. We were blown away with their confidence as they danced, acted, sang and delivered campaign speeches for the audience. The InspirEd team have really enjoyed working with the school and the other artists from Thinking Space and Lost Dog Theatre. The project has been a huge success!
