Film Workshops?

The film workshops are developed to encourage professional skills in film, documentary and video editing. They’re perfect for aspiring filmmakers of all ages and abilities.

Our workshops are also available as CPD sessions for teachers.

All our workshops are inclusive, and we make every effort to make sure every participant gains skills and has fun while working with us. We really enjoy working with disability groups so please get in touch to let us know your needs!

Documentary Fundamentals

Theory only / Theory & practical

Duration: 2hr / 4hr / 2 days

Who is this workshop for? Primary / Secondary school pupils, University students and people with an interest in documentary filmmaking.

Description: What makes a good documentary? The session will look at techniques used by factual filmmakers in order to tell a compelling story. Plus the practical skills needed to film an interview, capture B-Roll and edit a short video.

Please not that editing is not available in the 2hr session.

Premiere Pro / Avid Media Composer Training

Beginner – Edit Assistant / Video Editor Skills.

Duration: 1 – 3 days

Who is this workshop for? College & University students and people with a desire to work in post production or edit their own films.

1:1 or large groups.

Please note that we do not provide equipment and software for this, it must be provided by the hirer.

Description: Dawn has over 15 year’s professional experience working as a Video Editor and teaches Video Editing at Sheffield Hallam University as an Associate Lecturer. This course can cover editing theory, history and techniques. Plus the practical skills needed to edit a film or documentary.

Get Into Film

Duration: 15min / 1hr / 2hr / 4hr

Who is this workshop for? Primary / Secondary school pupils, University students and people with a desire to work in the film industry.

Description: Dawn will deliver an inspirational session which looks at her career as a Video Editor. She will cover some of her past work and give advice about how to get into the film industry. This is then followed by a series of practical activates that are age and ability appropriate. Including camera skills, practical editing and film fundamentals.

This workshop can be incorporated into an assembly / seminar as the first part can be delivered as a 15-30 minute presentation.
