Hello! I’m so sorry I haven’t posted for a while. I feel it’s time to give you all an update. At the moment I am unable to run any workshops in schools, the reasons, I hope, are obvious.
I’m also the resident animator at The National Science and Media Musuem in Bradford. At this moment we are not running any sessions. This of course is very sensible and I am 100% supportive of the Museum and it’s wonderful staff. It’s been my home for the past 5 years and It’s very sad that I’m not able to see the team and teach all the children who come to visit.
There is a small glimmer of hope however, as my little Etsy shop has been supporting myself and my family throughout this crisis. I’m putting my creativity and drive into making face coverings, animation starter kits and craft supplies.
In May I set about making as many face masks as I could. I wanted to help those in my community that needed them the most. I set up a just giving page and asked for a small donation in exchange for a handmade mask. My chosen charity was a local children’s centre called The Hive in Silsden, West Yorkshire. I raised a whopping £1000!
I have since continued to make handmade masks as a way of supporting myself through this crisis. They are available to buy in my Etsy shop: InspirEd Animation.
Whenever you shop online please shop small because there are so many independent UK businesses like mine that really appreciate every single sale. It really does make a difference. So for the time being I will be using my sewing and crafty skills to make more things to put in my shop.
I will run workshops for children again, I promise you!
So until then, stay safe.
