Traditional 35mm photography with developing.
The sessions include Black & white 35mm film photography with a demonstration of negative development. We then practically alter the film using scratching, sticking and colouring techniques.
Themes include:
‘My inner me’ – participants take portraits of each other which are then developed and physically altered. Essentially scratching lines and shapes onto the film negative, illustrating their inner creative self. The outcome of the workshop is a series of self-portraits that have been physically altered and then digitally animated into a gif.
Experimental photography – photos using various experimental techniques including long exposure, prisms and home-made filters and effects
Traditional pinhole photography including developing.
Themes include:
Cottingley fairies – mixing hand-drawn illustration and pinhole photography. We’ll take a look at one of the greatest hoaxes in modern history and replicate the technique. Our focus will be on mythical characters such as monsters, aliens and imaginary creatures inspired by modern culture.
What’s in the box? – Placing objects like tracing paper, prisms and transparent objects inside a pinhole camera to generate experimental photos. This is a truly experimental session that encourages participants to embrace the unknown and celebrate their art, even if it’s not perfect.
Light Painting Photography
Long-exposure light painting using digital or analogue techniques. How do you make a painting out of light? This session explores light, colour and experimental ideas to produce a series of photographs made of light and movement.
Sessions must take place at night.
5-15 Participants at a time. Perfect for school groups and adult classes. Sessions for schools can be shortened and repeated to accommodate more pupils throughout the day. Please contact us for a quote.
