In December and January we were invited to work with a group of young adults taking part in the Verve Club at Opera North.
‘Verve is Opera North’s strand of work tailored for young people aged 8-25 with autism spectrum disorders, communication difficulties, learning disabilities and other additional needs. Verve projects aim to develop young people’s personal and creative skills through a rich programme of arts activity conducted in a nurturing environment and supported by highly experienced professional artists.’ Quote taken from the Opera North website
We were asked to run two sessions to introduce the students to the wonderful world of stop motion animation. I think you’ll agree that the models they made were spectacular. The task was to make a short animation with a simple story or sequence.
Our job is done now. The animations will be passed onto a musician who is working with the group next month. We’re looking forward to seeing their finished films with composed music!
